If you are ready to leave the 9 to 5 business world for one of the many MLM business opportunities out there, chances are you feel like a kid in a candy store. There are literally hundreds, if not thousands, of business opportunities out there for the work from home professional.
There are products ranging from cosmetics to handbags to kitchenware just begging to be sold, and you can just envision the lifestyle of your dreams as you sell these products. So how can you even begin choosing the right one for your needs? There are 4 key points you must keep in mind while choosing:
1. How Much Investment Is Needed Up Front?
Chances are, you will have to pay some sort of franchise fee to begin selling with one of these companies. The fee can be quite nominal, ranging between $100 and $200, or it may involve thousands of dollars.
Before you get excited about working with a company, make sure you are able to afford the upfront investment they require. While you are at it, see what products and services are included with that initial investment.
Some companies offer a low fee but require you to pay extra for training materials, sales materials and so forth. So be sure you know what you are getting with your investment.
2. What Kinds of Products and Services Do They Sell?
Really think about the products or services they sell and ask yourself: Does this fill a need in the marketplace? Will it be easy to sell? Or is this product just a ridiculous scam that will take a lot of work to move? Now make sure it’s something you really want to sell. If you are passionate about what you do, that enthusiasm will translate to your customers and increase your sales. If you could care less about it, that will come across, too.
3. What Are You Required to Do?
Make sure you understand what’s required of you, and during what time period. Most companies require you to make a certain number of sales within the first year. Others may require a certain number of sales and ask that you recruit a certain amount of other salespeople to the company. So make sure you know what you are required to do, and that you feel comfortable you can meet that goal.
4. What Support Do They Offer New Trainees?
If you are new to sales, make sure the company offers a comprehensive training program. You don’t want to get thrown into the deep end and expect to swim if this job is supposed to put food on your table. Some companies even offer a mentorship program with an experienced member of their sales team. Support and training is crucial to your success, especially as you just start building your business.
