First what is Emotional Intelligence? Emotional intelligence is a different way of being smart. Brilliant & impressive author Daniel Goleman expresses how to understand, develop and most importantly apply emotional intelligence to all parts of your life, including and especially your MLM business.
Our emotional intelligence determines the potential for learning the practical skills that are based on its five elements: Self-awareness, motivation, self-regulation, empathy, and adeptness in personal & working relationships.
Our emotional competence shows how much of that potential we have translated, and then apply, to our top flight coaching in potential prospects.
Inter-personal intelligence is the ability to understand other people. What motivates them, how they work, how to work cooperatively with them. Successful people are likely to be individuals with high degrees of interpersonal intelligence. Those who have strong interpersonal intelligence are good at understanding and interacting with other people. These individuals are skilled at assessing the emotions, motivations, desires and intentions of those around them.
Characteristics of Inter-personal Intelligence
· Good at communicating verbally
· Skilled nonverbal communicators
· See situations from different perspectives
· Create positive relationships with others
· Good at resolving conflict in groups
Intra-personal intelligence however, is a correlative ability, turned inward. It is a capacity to form an accurate, veridical model of oneself and to be able to use that model to operate in life. Individuals who are strong in intrapersonal intelligence are good at being aware of their own emotional states, feelings and motivations. They tend to enjoy self-reflection and analysis, including exploring relationships with others and assessing their personal strengths.
Characteristics of Intra-personal Intelligence
· Good at analyzing their strengths and weaknesses
· Enjoys analyzing theories and ideas
· Excellent self-awareness
· Clearly understands the basis for their own motivations and feelings
This is called Emotional intelligence and it is critical for developing the leader within you.
BUT FIRST…let’s clear up some misconceptions. First emotional intelligence does not mean merely “being nice.” In fact… At strategic moments, it may demand, not being nice. For example, bluntly confronting someone when you know they are not qualified to be in your precious down line.
Second, emotional intelligence does not mean giving free rein to feelings… “Letting it all hang out” Rather it means managing feelings so that they are expressed appropriately and effectively, enabling people to work together smoothly toward common goals!
Emotional intelligence skills are synergistic with cognitive ones;
And… Top MLM earners have both.
An important emotional competence is: Getting Others to Respond in a Desired Way!
At the heart of this competence are two main abilities:
(1) Empathy, which involves reading the feelings of others.
(2) Social Skills, which allow handling those feeling artfully.
The underlying emotional intelligence capacities are vital if you are going to successfully learn the competencies necessary to succeed in your MLM Business. If you have little self-awareness, you will be oblivious to your own weaknesses and lack the self-confidence that comes from the certainty of knowing your strengths.
You must become educated in yourself! This will be your most prized investment, the investment in yourself.
