Foreword
Some will have you believe that the secret to your network marketing success lies in the product or service that is offered. Some will have you believe that the company you join and the management team leading that company is the secret to your network marketing success. Some will even have you believe that it’s simply the number of people that you approach with your opportunity. Well, the truth is, all these things are important, but they are not the most important things. So, guess what is the most important thing to your network marketing success…you guessed it, YOU! You are the most important thing to your network marketing success. So, what can YOU do to ensure that you are successful at network marketing? There are three things that you absolutely must do. (1) You must transform your thinking and gear it towards success. (2) You must have goals in mind and a general idea of how to accomplish them. (3) You must take concerted, focused action to create the reality you seek. Of course, you know the discussion does not end here. So let’s dive in and explore each of these key points in more detail.
Transforming Your Thinking To Acquire Success in Network Marketing and Anything Else
If you take a moment to look around you and make an assessment of the things you have in your life, you will be able to quickly realize that the things that you have, the friends that you keep, the things that you do are a result of your thinking. All the luxuries that we enjoy today began with a thought. Someone had an idea of what could be and then they set about to make it a reality. Imagine what life would be like if we never allowed our creative juices to flow or were not willing to travel to the river of abundance to which these juices take us. It’s hard to imagine life without electricity, without automobiles, without television, without, without without…..Yet and still, all these conveniences began with a thought. The thought ignites the curiosity and excitement of the possibilities. The belief that the possibilities are achievable help to drive the action needed to make the possibilities a reality. The thought, the belief, and the focused activities that follow transform the possibilities into reality. It all begins with the thought. If you don’t think it, you can’t act it. If you don’t act it, it can’t be.
You will agree that in order for us to bring about anything in our lives we must take action. Thinking is not enough, but it is absolutely necessary. We don’t make a single deliberate move without thinking about it first. Even those involuntary actions that our bodies are engaged are controlled by thoughts. We just don’t have to “remember” to do these things because they are automatic and some of them are life sustaining. Think about your breathing right now and you will notice that you are now consciously aware of the fact that you are breathing. You can choose to breathe more deeply and then bring about this change. Think about the blinking of your eyes. You are now conscious of the fact that you are blinking them and may even be counting the “blinks” as they occur. Before we began this conversation you were already doing these things. Once we began to deliberately focus on these things we became aware of them and began to control them consciously. However, we know that soon we will stop thinking about these items again and they will be on autopilot. The level of awareness is so great with these activities that the mind has taken complete control of these actions to allow us to move on to other things. Can you imagine how occupied we would be if we had to think about every single breath we took, every heart beat, every blink of the eye? Could we ever get anything else done?
When it comes to our personal success, be it in network marketing or in any of life’s other endeavors, we must strive to have the same level of awareness that we have with our other involuntary actions. If we are able to put our success principles on autopilot, we can’t help but to succeed. We will find ourselves automatically doing those things that lead to success. However, in the beginning, we should be patient with ourselves if we have not been thinking properly. We must recondition and reprogram our minds to think differently. We must accept the possibilities of what we are able to achieve if we want to achieve those possibilities. We must envision ourselves doing what we want to do and we must believe with all our might that it is possible. This belief should be so strong that you actually feel that you are engaging in the activity at this very moment. Hold onto this belief, when you think about it….really THIIIINNNNK about it. Each time you think about what you desire allow yourself to engage in the emotional high. Allow yourself to relish the moment. Feel the victory of claiming your destiny! Know that you deserve it! Bask in the glory! Then set about continuing on the path to making it happen.
Setting Your Goals for Your Network Marketing Success
The importance of goals cannot be stressed enough. They are our road maps to success. As we mentioned before, it is not enough to think about the things you want out of life; you have to take action. But equally important as taking action, is taking the right actions. If I decide that I am going to drive from Atlanta, Georgia to Los Angeles, California and I decide to travel west and continue to go west, it would be a good idea for me to have a plane or boat in the trunk of my car because there is a lot of ocean between me and my destination if I take that route. This is an extreme example but it demonstrates why it is important for us to have goals and to have some idea of the actions we will have to take to achieve those goals. The best way to find out what actions to take is to talk with others that have successfully accomplished what you are trying to accomplish. For instance, if you ask me how to get from Beaumont, Texas to Tallahassee, Florida I can tell you the best route to get there because I have made the trip many times. I can tell you not to stay on I-10 for the entire trip because it will add another 40 miles to your trip. I can tell you to take I-12 outside of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, thereby, bypassing New Orleans. I can tell you to fuel up near Pensacola, Florida because there will be a long stretch where service stations are scarce. I can tell you these things with a high degree of certainty because I have personally experienced these things. So ask yourself, would you rather have me tell you about the best way to get from Beaumont to Tallahassee, or would you rather here it from someone who has just heard about how to get there. They may be able to tell you the major routes to take, but they may not be able to tell you about the potential pitfalls…like running out of gas. So after you set your goals, seek out mentors that can assist you and give you guidance along the way.
Having goals will help dictate what actions you should be taking every single day to help you achieve the life of your dreams, and since it is your dream, you have to take responsibility for making it your reality. By having goals, we have targets for which to aim. By having goals we are able to develop our list of targeted activities to enable us to achieve our dream. By having goals and targeted activities we can develop a timeline by which to accomplish our dream. The goals are a product of the thought that presented the dream to us. Without having goals, we will not be able to reach our destination. The need for goals must not be underestimated. If you have trouble developing goals, seek assistance from those that have done or are doing what you desire to do.
Taking Action
Just as thinking is not enough to make your dreams a reality, neither is just having a set of goals to go along with those thoughts. You must couple those elements with action! This action must be focused and deliberate! Without taking the necessary actions, the other activities become a waste of time. In addition, we must get in the habit of taking action as soon as we identify what those actions should be. Whether we like it or not, we are always in a race against time. How we choose to spend that time will either set us apart from the rest or will cause us to get lost in the masses.
It is always good to have a running list of actions with your ultimate goal as the prize. These actions are actually smaller goals that you are completing in order to complete your overall goal which is to achieve the life of your dreams. As you complete these smaller goals, be sure to reward yourself. Determine what the reward will be before you begin the action, and then treat yourself to the reward upon completion of the task.
If we are serious about achieving our dreams, we must take action!
Summary
If you wish to succeed in network marketing or any other venture in life, you must begin with you. You must make sure that you are thinking correctly and make sure that you are clear on what actions you need to take. The next step is to act! Remember to seek assistance from others while you are on your journey. Although some people are competitive by nature, there are many others that will do whatever they can to help you. They see your success as their success. These are the people that you should seek out and emulate.
As you become more successful, remember to do your part to help others to succeed!
